calmer tides

after getting over being screwed out of an early waxing crescent digging session thanks to connection problems, I gotten in an uneventful digging session. the next day I came out with 3 spider webs while digging outside of Al Zahbi.

on a more positive note, I got a brand new chocobo chick named DoreAvenger, residing in the Windurst stables. It inherited the Bore ability, just like its sibling DamePrincess.

06 December 2006

the evil empire strikes

around 15:00 CST I was getting ready for early waxing crescent digging session outside the stables in Windurst and I get d/c. I have not been able to log into the game since then, and the elemental ore window is closing quickly. It isn't me that is having problems, its being discussed on various FFXI forums on the Internet. Perhaps its an return of the infamous DDoS attacks of last year. . .

I'll try to get an update later.

05 December 2006

quick choco update and parser results

the chocobo being raised by my sandy mule is going to end up being a blue one (from its mother), but it has at least 2 more weeks before being ready for breeding. It is progressing very nicely right now.

now on the parser results I promised. Out of the 7265 items successfully dug, 1021 were pebbles. The next highest was Insect Wings at 611, then Flint Stones at 568 and Bone Chips at 555. There were 311 Lizard Molts. Those 5 items combined for 42.2% of all the successful digs. Elemental Ores were only dug at 0.04% of the time. I'll release the full results of the parser online at a later time. 115 different items were dug up during that rank.

Right now is too early to tell on any increases of certain items since going up to Adept. As I get deeper into the rank, I'll keep an eye out on the results of my digging sessions.

04 December 2006

Adept Rank Digging!

Today, I hit Adept Rank (A20) in chocobo digging, 6 to 8 weeks ahead of schedule. I was expecting to ding after 1600 to 2000 stacks of greens, but I dinged at just under 1190 stacks of gyshal greens. This was a very nice surprised, and supports my theory that the chocobos raised for digging purposes (ones with burrow and bore) not only increase the success rate but also increase the chance of getting a skill up. It took me around 1600 stacks to go from Craftsman to Artisan (which happened right before the digging fatigue system was introduced). I'm not a fan of burrow myself, but it has its use in trying to skill up digging.

I'm still keeping Summer 2007 and Winter 2008 as the projected times of going up to Veteran and Expert ranks, despite the good news. I still hope and pray that SE will improve digging a bit (such as being allowed to use chocobo whistle in more outdoor zones) and improve chocobo raising where both discernment and endurance could be raised.

I will be getting all the data recorded and posted in the next day or so.

02 December 2006

work ><

sunday morning is early waxing crescent, but its my weekend to work and as a result I have to miss it, especially when it starts right before JP midnight.

I'm starting to target the king truffles (rank up item), as I'm approaching 1200 stacks of greens into my level. I hit the 50% success rate last night.

01 December 2006

bastard

I scolded my chocobo the other day for the lackluster digs since that ice ore it pulled. It responded by making good digs in the past 3 days but I'm still a bit dissapointed as I have seen better results. Bore still hasn't kicked in Meriphataud at all, and it won't pull up Adaman there. Today I saw only 2 gold beastcoins and a gold ore in that zone and a lot of crap. At my digging rank, that result along with a full moon is not a very good one.

I'm retiring that chocobo and raising a new one, probably as early as tomorrow.

27 November 2006

al zahbi bore = lame

i took my chocobo digging outside al zahbi but bore yielded just elm and oak logs for the most part and flint stones for burrow. I didn't stay there for long, I simply went back to La Thiene and dug my way to Sandy. Fatigue hit just after 12 stacks today.

25 November 2006

tooth hurts

I been feeling a bit bummed this week. I try to do about 100 stacks a week but this week it only took me little more than 88 stacks because the chocobo was getting fatigued between 10 and 12 stacks ever since I switched to digging with raised chocobo. On the other hand, the success rate went from 43% to 49%, I been getting better digs, and as a result saving money on gyshal greens.

Tomorrow is EWC. I haven't decided where I'll be digging at. I hope to take my chocobo digging outside Al Zahbi on Monday but I'll be having a root canal at the dentist on that day and I may not be feeling up to par.

23 November 2006

its been a long week. the chocobo egg on my sandy mule hatched and it inherited Bore from AmberII. I won't know the color for another week but I plan on going the endurance route with that one.

chocobo digging has been uneventful all week. bore ability still won't kick in while digging in meriphataud. I took it digging in every zone but the desert, where I plan on trying to get digs in there today if competition allows it. After that, I have to camp king truffles if I want to go up to Adept anytime soon. My personal chocobo is taking just 9 to 13 stacks of greens to hit fatigue, as opposed to my personal chocobo taking 17 to 20 stacks.

19 November 2006

<3 batallia

after getting home from work in time for early waxing crescent, I tried out pashhow and rolanberry only not to have much luck to I zoned into batallia and got paid with an ice ore. I pulled up a stack of yellow ginseng as well along with a tree cutting to finish off a stack.

17 November 2006

more new items

i went into bibiki today to dig with my chocobo after I got home from work. I pulled up titancitus shells, high quality pugil scales, phoenix feathers, black chocobo feathers, wyvern scales, and spider web. Wow, a nice skill up area for high level diggers, as most of those items cap either at adept or veteran rank.

16 November 2006

another EWC

I camped the upcoming EWC in Carpenter's Landing as lightning weather was due to be up. I did not get any competition but failed to pull up any ores prior to fatigue.

There has been good news, however. During that session I pulled up 7 Oak Logs, 1 Elm Log, and 3 Light Crystals (which been going for 15k a stack lately). Also, my chocobo's discernment rose to Outstanding (1 level below cap), so I hope to cap that by the end of the week. My sandy mule also mated my chocobo with a blue one and got an egg today, so I have two chocobos to keep attention to.

15 November 2006

chocotonic

I was digging in pashhow with personal chocobo today, and thanks to bore ability I was pulling up yellow ginseng - almost as often as pebbles. It makes the hard to find chocotonic, so I made some with my alchemy mule and sent them back, and put them around the same price of vomp carrots and zegham carrots been going for in others bazaar (4k a pop). All 27 of them sold within an hour, which pocketed 108k gil in my pocketbook. I could had made more off them if I wanted to, but I simply wanted them to move.

I also pulled up wildgrass seeds and tree cuttings in pashhow with bore. Burrow been pulling up shrooms in the jungles, while bore pulls up logs there.

Tomorrow morning is early waxing crescent, so time to get some sleep. My alchemy mule also got my chocobo mated with a blue one today.

14 November 2006

got bore

after I got home from work today, I went straight to my computer, logged in, and my chocobo got bore after only the 5th story I told.

I been getting a lot of various kinds of beastcoins, ores, crystals, and flowers with the burrow. I have seen just a few ginger roots so far with bore but I only got it today and I was digging outside Sandy.

My chocobo is only on Day 45, so it has 15-20 days before I have to raise a new one at least. However, it is lovesick and breeding it to other peeps haven't taken care of the problem. Today, it has been battling an injury.

12 November 2006

first real test of burrow

I did my first real test with burrow today, in Tahrongi and Meriphataud with my chocobo. In Tahrongi, the ability pulled up various types of beastcoins, and in Meriphataud a lot of different ores. I only needed 12 stacks of greens to hit the 100 item limit today, so at least it was an effective run in terms of ghysal greens.

11 November 2006

burrow!

on day 42 my chocobo AmberII had discernment rise to Impressive. I told it story of worrysome chocobo and it learned burrow. I'm going to take that out for a test drive.

07 November 2006

lots of crappy digs

took only 15 1/2 stacks before fatigue hit but my chocobo pulled up way too much junk and only 2 gold beastcoins for the effort. I was not satisfied with the results, considering of what it is capable of digging on a normal day.

My personal chocobo discernment went up to better than average, but it hasn't learned burrow yet (I've been telling that story 1-2 times a day since I got that key item about 6 days ago).

06 November 2006

work :(

after a crappy weekend of work, I came home this morning in time for EWC. However, a who who's of JP A10s also showed up. I didn't end up with any elemental ores, but did pull up 3 puffballs, 2 elm logs, and 2 oak logs. Fatigue kicked in after 15 stacks, so I still have 5 stacks for tomorrow.

I hit 800 stacks into my level yesterday. I pulled up 7 gold beastcoins yesterday, which is an all-time high.

My beastcoin stacks and my ice ore sold yesterday night, so I'm happy with that, though.

03 November 2006

finally got second story

it took 2 walks but my chocobo finally got story of worrysome chocobo. however, my chocobo was low on energy when i got the key item, therefore I couldn't tell it to him right now.

i went digging during early waxing crescent, and finished off a stack of mythril beastcoins and got 8 elm logs but zero elemental ores in just over 20 stacks (before fatigue kicked in). I still made a profit, however, so I'll take that as a accomplishment considering it was getting into JP primetime.

02 November 2006

chocobo growing up

my chocobo now has average discernment. still can't get the blasted cutscenes that lead to key items. once it maxes out discernment, i'm switching to basic care until i'm forced to retire it.

today digging: 3 gold beastcoins, but nothing else to note. I have been beginning to see an increase of black chocobo feathers in the past week, and pulled up 2 elemental ores in the past 3 early waxing crescent periods.

I work this weekend, but will be on day shifts once i get off work on monday morning. this will last until early december.

30 October 2006

<3 pashhow

another early waxing crescent (which i had set my alarm clock for this as it began around 16:00, and I had to work tonight), i went into pashhow as water was up (digging in carpenters with lightning didn't yield any ores but enough stuff to break even), and wound up with an ice ore within a minute after zoning.

slow updates

thanks to a new work schedule, my blog updates have been a bit slower. However, I have been making time to dig and check on my chocobo. My second chocobo is an adult now, and if you are on the Remora server it is available for breeding at a negotiable price. I'm still working on raising it for digging purposes, but those NPCs won't give me the key item for the stories (actually they haven't been popping up on those walks, which has been very frustrating). I wished I raised it in Windy rather than Sandy, since one of the most important key items comes from the stables owner in Windy.

I decided last week to change alliegance from Sandy to Windy, so I could do missions. I obtained Portal Charm and worked my way back to Rank 5. I did this to allow me to raise future chocobos in Windy.

Its back to work Monday night. I'll only have Wednesday/Thursday night off this week. The good news is that this is the last week of night shifts and I'll be going back on days.

23 October 2006

elemental ore score

water element in pashhow marshlands, 23:37 CDT in earth time, 7% early waxing cresent, scored 1 wind ore.

I still have 70 more items to dig before fatigue hits, maybe I'll score again.

on the other day i did pull up orich. ore in Rolanberry. Digging results have been uneventual as of lately.

13 October 2006

the gold assault continues

I been continuing to target gold while digging, and it has been paying off. I'm making about 10k to 40k profit per session (which right now is a huge profit considering of the nerf and deflation), don't have a lot of competition, and it has been my money maker as work has really cut into playtime (gardening has helped to some form but the results have been less as impressive recently).

I hit 400 stacks into my rank today. Only 1600-2100 stacks to go before I hit the next rank. I estimate that I will hit that rank sometime in January or February. I still pray that the evil empire will increase the number of stacks we could dig before fatigue.

I heard that the Bore ability has yielded a more variety of items, but the diggers that have it mentioned that they're only digging up different crystals or different types of logs depending on zone.

07 October 2006

gold gold gold

because of work, I had no choice but to miss the elemental ore period as it fell during work hours. I went digging later that evening and despite some competition (Rolanberry was dug up when I tired to dig there), I pulled up 6 gold beastcoins. This permitted me to finish off a stack (which sells for 150k on the AH). I made approximately 50k in profit today, so I am happy.

06 October 2006

tgif, kinda

sucks that I have to work when the next early waxing crescent comes by. oh well, I got Rolanberry and Sauromunge to myself today, and pulled up 2 gold beastcoins and 5 coral fungus in 17 stacks of greens.

my mules did 20 vegetable plants and they were ready for harvest. I got 4 stacks of lightning crystals and 6 stacks of frost turnips. Its time to craft goblin drinks for a certain gobbie on Sunday.

05 October 2006

more gold

3 gold beastcoins and a gold ore in 18 stacks of greens before fatigue kicked in today.

my new chocobo chick is a male.

04 October 2006

some hauls

last night was early waxing crescent. 15 stacks, wound up with mistletoe and 2 oak logs but no elemental ores to show for it .

tonight, fatigue kicked in after 19 stacks (used a 20th to confirm it). today's haul was 4 gold beastcoins, 4 mythril beastcoins, yellow rock, and 3 coral fungus.

I'm not using a parser right now. Stack counts may be off a little bit.

Digging has been a stress reliever. I'm working 6 days a week this month (only getting Sundays off), and as a result my game time been cut. I been using digging (digging as many stacks as fatigue allows) to try to sneak in revenue (and gardening on my mules) as my farming time has been cut to almost zero.

02 October 2006

seed digging

I spent the last 2 days (jp time) digging in West Ronfaure targeting Vegetable Seeds (must garden Frost Turnips, not paying 100k for a stack at AH and nobody has control of Valdenuia for the second week in a row - which is very unusual for this server). I need turnips to make goblin drinks on the cooking mule.

I'll probably spend every day this week doing 10-13 stacks of greens after I get off from work.

30 September 2006

digging time again

another early waxing crescent, another rental chocobo, zero ores dug by the time fatigue set in. the evil empire really nerfed chocobo digging to the point I get zero competition during early waxing crescent (before hand, there was hardcore competition and getting an ore was an accomplishment). On the good side, I did pull up 2 gold beastcoins, so at least I made an profit (also finding a bazaar that had ghysal greens for 40 gil a pop didn't hurt either). SE made digging too restrictive, and they need to loosen up a bit (how about increasing those stacks from 10 to maybe 20-30, because now it will take a year to gain a chocobo digging rank).

I know I should be digging every day but I haven't except for that certain moon phase. I got called back to work and have to report Tuesday. I didn't go meriting this week (opted to farm instead) because my brother just got home from his deployment with the navy. He was gone for 4 months.

I also retired my first chocobo today, but not before I breeded it to couple peeps. I concede the fact it will take couple generations of chocobos before you can really notice a difference. The two major stats you have to focus is endurance and discernment. So when you care, you have to take it on the longest walks that you can and have it either to basic care or listening to music every day for care plans. For feeds, I occasionally give it greens (to get it used to the taste of ghysal greens) and mainly give it carrots or cabbage.

27 September 2006

rental birds blow

i hate to admit it, but rental birds were obviously not raised for digging purposes. since that update back in late august, the results with rental chocobos have been as retarded as you can get. my personal chocobo gets better digs and is still Poor on discernment stat. oh course I been raising it for digging purposes, working on discernment and endurance stats as much as I can. The upcoming update will help on that cause.

early waxing crescent finally arrived, but where is that darn weather icon?

Peddlestox has a big grudge against me. third time i traded mermaid parts to him outside kazham, the third time he has screwed me with drops. 2 beastmen seals, fruit seeds, light opal; what the heck? It took me the better part of 2 days to get the items this time around.

I won't be digging the next early waxing crescent. My brother is coming home from his military obligation on Friday just in time for his birthday.

23 September 2006

my bird an adult

my chocobo became an adult

this evening was early waxing crescent so i went out to buburimu and called it when windy weather was present. did not end up with elemental ores by the time fatigue set in, but one of the shall shells turned into a black pearl (now going around 25k a pop) and I pulled up 2 turtle shells, so at least I made a profit.

06 September 2006

today's result

i went digging in the woodlands shortly after JP midnight time. fatigue did not set in until I was on the 10th and final stack of greens (thank god). Got a fairly good haul with a spider web and 2 ebony logs, but no adaman.

finally got in a xp pt on my THF after waiting 30 hours from the last invite and dinged 64 today.

05 September 2006

resumed digging

i resumed digging today after a break

dig 33 items (nothing worth mentioning about) then fatigue set in. this took less than 7 stacks of greens (used a 8th stack to confirm it) for this to happen.

i got 2 mules with wildgrass plants, with pure intentions of cutting costs on some of the feeds. neither mule is ready for harvest yet, as i did the planting on saturday afternoon and moogle has yet to ask for a crystal.

31 August 2006

raising new chocobo chick

last week i been working on raising my new chocobo chick, I named Lady III.

I haven't been doing much digging. The chocobo stables manager keeps being taken prisoner, and the profits in other zones have not been back to normal yet.

08 August 2006

working

good news is that I got ungrounded

bad news is that I'm working 4 nights a week, and only got time to play the game 3 nights.

gotta leave for work in a hour so I need to get going.

01 August 2006

grounded

Having a fight with {Impossible to Gauge} mother is never a good idea.

As a result, I'm grounded from video games until further notice.

28 July 2006

liking the new areas

yesterday, pulled up orc. ore and 2 petrified logs in the thickets, and another adaman in the woodlands. fatigue set in after 10 stacks.

today i used up the 5 stacks I still had in the woodlands and wound up with crap.

26 July 2006

new areas

today digging fatigue set in shortly after i started on the 13th stack of greens. i did use a few stacks of the 2 of the new zones, got an adaman ore and ebony log, but nothing else amazing from that session. i also pulled up black chocobo feathers, dates, pebbles, moko grass, dried majoram, and blue rocks.

25 July 2006

the evil empire strikes

bots lost, but so did us

digging fatigue sets in after 20 stacks of greens?!? WTF?!? 50 stacks would been fair, but 20 stacks was too drastic. Once fatigue sets in, you got to wait til the next JP day before you can dig items again. Lame.

24 July 2006

update is here

after a long 7 hour maintenance, the update is here and i'm back in the game. As soon as I get a few other in-game things done I'll be digging.

21 July 2006

*sigh*

Still on my mini-vacation from digging. I don't think I missed much, the prices are still down. I've been just leveling PLD and trying to level parry skill whenever I can. I'll resume digging after the FFXI update next week.

15 July 2006

damn undercutters

I think I'm going to take couple days off from digging and level up PLD. The person that been buying gold ores/beastcoins from me is out of gil from leveling up goldsmithing, and darksteel ores are at all-time low prices right now.

12 July 2006

finally. . .

just dinged A25 rank. 1180 stacks of greens to get from A30 to A25. Thank god, as the prices of the items I was targeting have dropped during this time, and they dropped when I was out of town. :/

11 July 2006

almost to dinging

i got in another 120 stacks of greens today. I could had pushed it to 150+ stacks if I wanted to, but competition really heated up in the final 20 stacks and I called it a night after that. It also sucks that darksteel ores dipped to 17k a pop when I returned to vacation, but I'm making due. My alchemy mule dinged 74.3 today as well.

10 July 2006

mondays suck

its monday, and back to digging. first 80 stacks digging in gustaberg: 2 darksteel ores. last 20 stacks in same area: 4 darksteel ores and 1 cactus stems. I also pulled up 22 mythril beastcoins and 11 grain seeds in the 100 stacks I did today. I have hit the 1000 stack mark of the craftsman rank, I should be dinging within 500-800 stacks.

09 July 2006

got home today

I got home around 5pm today and been doing unpacking/grocery shopping/etc. I'll resume digging either Monday or Tuesday. I'm tired right now.

28 June 2006

stuff finally selling

I decided to leave my character logged in while I slept. All but 4 darksteel ore and all but 3 stacks of bone chips sold while I slept. The stack of grain seeds should sell in a while, and 4 stacks of mythril beastcoins are still waiting to sell.

I opted to skip this early waxing crescent. Undead besieged was coming up during this time but I opted to skip that as well, as I got a lot of real life chores to do (finish cleaning those showers, and get laundry started). With yours truly leaving for the southeast in less than 48 hours, there is a lot of things to get done in a short amount of time. With my mother unable to do much in the way of house cleaning due to her bad shoulder, I'm stuck with the dirty work as my dad won't do it and you can't convince him to help.

couple days til vacation

in just over 48 hours from now I'll be leaving for vacation. No FFXI which means no digging during the 9-day vacation. As a result, I'm hoping everything I got in bazaar and/or AH would sell before then. For some reason, the turnover rates have not been living up to par lately.

I did 60 stacks of greens Tuesday. I was AFK for part of the day for a while after the besieged with mammols, to get some errands done. So much things to do for vacation.

Early waxing crescent will begin in a few hours but I don't think I'm going to do any digging during this time. If those darksteel ores would hurry up and sell it would be one thing, but they haven't and right now it isn't worth the time to turn them into ingots as they're moving even slower.

27 June 2006

darksteel pulling

today i did 100 stacks of greens (could had done more if it wasn't for the fact i went afk for 3 hours for funeral home visitation) in north and south gustaberg. the results were much better than yesterday. 11 darksteel ores, 20 mythril beastcoins, 7 grain seeds, and 6 1/2 stacks of bone chips. 74.4k spent on ghysal greens, made a approximate profit of 373k when everything decides to hurry up and sell. The fact I did some digging around full moon helped, as a good chunk of the day before fell during quarter moon.

26 June 2006

halfway point

700 stacks into my level. today i pulled up 2 darksteel ore, 1 cactus stems, 9 grain seeds, 14 mythril beastcoins, and 4 stacks of bone chips in 70 stacks of greens. not a great haul of goods for that number of stacks, but it was better than the results I had Saturday. Bone chips have dropped in price considerably, which doesn't help my cause either. Today, spent 52k on greens, made about 90k in profit. Right now, trolls will be entering Al Zahbi soon (about an hour from now), so I'm waiting for them to show up so I can get some sleep.

I don't think I'm going to get much digging done this week prior to vacation that I would like. Had a death on mom's side of the family over the weekend (this one everyone knew it was coming it was just a matter of when) and I have to go to the funeral visitation monday and the funeral itself on tuesday. I got first cousins coming in for this, and some I haven't seen in years so I'm going to try to visit with them while I got a chance.

On a positive note, Sandy claimed Sarutabaruta on the Remora server for the second time ever. This one I wasn't expecting, but its nice to have 200 gil outpost warps to Windy again.

25 June 2006

tired

i got home from my niece's recital in time for early waxing crescent, but this one was in middle of jp primetime and on a weekend. as a result there were tons of diggers out. since it was very late at night, I only did 20 stacks with lackluster results, then went to bed. I was very tired.

23 June 2006

TGIF, sorta

Just went past 600 stacks into my digging rank tonight. Only 700-1000 stacks to go at the very least til I ding again. I doubt I will ding before leaving on vacation next weekend, because aside for one or two days in the past 2 weeks I have done little digging due to real life stuff and those recent besieges.

I have pulled up 8 grain seeds (to finish off a stack), stack of mythril beastcoins, and 4 darksteel ore while digging today in gustaberg region, along with 6 stacks of bone chips. However, for some reason, undercutters have hit bone chip prices hard and the other stuff on AH hasn't sold yet.

Last night our server lost besieged for the first time, to the undead swarm. Lack of peeps (only 200 in Al Zahbi where there is usually 500-600 peeps) and starting with 3 serpent generals did not help matters out at all. The Astral Candescence was recovered about 4 hours 20 minutes after undead took it. I was praying that a new besieged would take place sometime during the last quarter moon tonight but I guess not.

21 June 2006

yay

I got home in time from the store for the start of early waxing crescent. Competition was fierce, but I made one of my successful digs count

That one happened on the 460th stack of my current digging rank. Very first elemental ore I ever dug up. I expect more in the near future, even though it probably won't happen for a few days at least.

chocobo stables in al zahbi opening soon

just found out that SE is opening chocobo stables in Al Zahbi next month following the version update. soon it will be time to bring in greens and see what new items can be dug up.

parser now works, more post-maint besieged

b/c of a second day in a row of emergency maintenance, the besieged timers were reset again and guess what, I had to be in the thick of 3 besieged back-to-back-to-back. our server managed to win all 3 of them at the expense of just 9 prisoners but 3 of them were serpent generals and 1 warp taru. Got ~1950 IS from the 3 besieged (didn't get the max the first one b/c of lack of curing in part b/c one of the serpent generals I had targeted was one-shotted by a TP move of a mob), which I'm starting to stack up again for future use later.

i did managed to do 30 stacks today. would done more but the moon phase wasn't favorable (i hate digging during quarter moon). dug up a red rock that turned into a garnet, a darksteel ore, a gold beastcoin, enough bone chips for 2 stacks, and enough mythril beastcoins to finish off a stack. not the best digging results in the world, but hopefully SE would quit pulling off screwballs and I can get back into an rhythym that I was pulled out of thanks to real life and emergency maintenance.

20 June 2006

parser working again

for now, I'll have to record the stacks by hand. the dig parser software broke last night and I had to delete those logs as a result. the parser started working again after I cleaned out the logs, but now i'll have to add 420 to the "stack total" until I hit my next digging rank.

besieged

4 besieged in a 6 hour period, and all of them were as brutal as you can get. our server nearly lost the AC twice. the game was also down for 2 hours for emergency mainteance around 2pm as well.

i haven't did any digging today. parser software broke and I can't get it back up and running.

17 June 2006

tons of afk time

thanks to some real life, i been afk a lot on thursday and friday. had a doctors appointment on thursday and I only got 30-40 stacks in as a result. I didn't do much at all Friday because I did 2 besieged and had to help out around the house. Don't expect me to much digging at all tomorrow due to the fact my niece is having her first birthday party.

In the past two days I pulled up platnium ore, gold ore, and 3-4 darksteel ore. Not the greatest profit considering the lack of digs I did.

14 June 2006

high competition but good haul

for some reason competition was high for a tuesday and early waning crescent isn't for another 18 hours. despite that I snuck in altep and pulled in 3 platinum ores and 1 phiolosopher's stone. pulled in another darksteel in north gustaberg. pretty much didn't do much more digging except briefly around sandy as it was last quarter moon and my luck with that moon phase has not been that great.

12:30 am and i'm going to bed early. i don't feel well at all tonight.

13 June 2006

full moon, full of crap

i did 110 stacks today got several darksteel ore and 8 elm logs, but i saw the efforts of 5 weeks of diging for profit go down the drain on just 1 synth tonight on full moon darksday in sandy:

5.9M right down the drain, and that would been used on my 57 thief had it been successful.

12 June 2006

Now a craftsman rank digger

After 1103 stacks of ghysal greens, I hit craftsman rank digging (A30). This came as a surprise to me because I was not expecting to hit the rank until I used at least 1200 stacks of greens because the last rank came just after I hit 1000 greens. I have noticed a big difference on dig accuracy and I even pulled up another cactus stem.

11 June 2006

difference a day makes

yesterday was brutal. today was much better. 3 stacks of mythril beastcoins, 2 stacks of grain seeds, 8 darksteel ores, 1 cactus stems, and 8 stacks of bone chips today on 110 stacks of greens. Dig accuracy went from 42.24% to 43.15%. I'll do another 30 stacks before I call it a night as first quarter moon will begin in 5 hours and digging tends to go to pot during that moon phase.

little bastard

chocobo dig success rate went from 42.89% to 42.24% today despite the lack of competition. last quarter moon phase put the biggest chunk into it, but me being a bit greedy also played a role. the only saving grace was pulling up 3 darksteel ore in north gustaberg and digging enough mythril beastcoins to finish off a stack. the bad news was i pulled up only 2 bags of grain seeds today, after pulling up 9 yesterday.

09 June 2006

crafting day

i opted to do crafting today and its one of the reasons i only did 35 stacks of greens. i farmed lighting clusters in carpenters landing as it is middle of thunder elemental season so i could desynth bronze leggings for bronze ingots. after getting 8 stacks of bronze ingots, i got alchemy mule from 69.4 to 71.9 on venom bolt heads before i ran out of bronze ingots. i went back on main character, digging wasn't going that great tonight but had dug up enough materials to craft some HQ versions of low level gear. wound up going 2/3 on bone harness +1, 1/1 on bone mask +1, 2/3 on bone knife +1 (this one for a linkshell member). lost 30k on the greens for the day but made a 180k profit just by crafting what i dug up. i'm still waiting on the auction house to hurry up and sell (and i got rosewood/ebony/mahogany lumber stacks priced to move on the sandy AH) so I can return to Kazham (though I won't return there before Sunday evening).

08 June 2006

really hate the AH

not only bone chips did not sell today, the prices were cut in half. oh well, I dumped them all on my alchemy mule (now 69.3) and turned them into animal glue for an upcoming skillup synth.

the good news is that the lumber is selling. the stack of coral fungus i finished off also sold within minutes of being listed. Prices of those items have gone down too but not by much.

almost 800 stacks down, another 400 to 700 to go.

06 June 2006

damn AH

i'm sitting in Jeuno waiting on the god damn AH to hurry up and sell. High turnover crap on the AH and none of it is moving. I swear I got nearly 500k to 600k of stuff waiting to go on AH.

That one bot wasn't in altepa, so I snuck in a few stacks there as competition was high. I wound up with 4 wyvern scales, 3 gold ores, and a philosopher's stone. I did not do more than 10-15 stacks due to 2 other diggers in the area, so I left. I dug in Bastok long enough to finish off a stack of mythril beastcoins.

returned to jungles

the jungles cooled down in competition, due in part of 30+ stacks of bone chips on the AH in windy and suddenly not moving like they should. In addition, its the middle of the week so not everyone gets the online time they get on the weekend. I pulled up 10 stacks of bone chips, and so many logs I can't count.

I'm about through the halfway point of my digging rank. Still have 600 to 900 stacks to go before I'll move up in rank, though.

05 June 2006

long day of partying

today I was gone until 8 pm. I spent all day attending 2 parties involving relatives. Not my cup of tea, but at least it was a very nice day, and I ate too much food.

I didn't start digging until 9 pm. It was early waxing crescent, which means all the hardcore JP diggers had were going to be in force despite the fact it was noon Monday over there. At least we made the digbots life a living hell for a few hours because they deserve it.

I went into Kazham, which doesn't have a lot of diggers right now, but the zones are being stubborn in loading right now. I'm not in a hurry, though, as 37 stacks of bone chips were already up on the Windy AH right now which means I'm either putting them on Jeuno or waiting. The only big thing I hate about Kazham is the fact there is a glitch that causes me to fall through the wooden planks from time to time. I sent complaints to SE over this and I don't get a honest response.

04 June 2006

another rough day

the good: 3 petrified logs, 3 ebony logs, 1 king truffle, 8 mahongany logs, 5 rosewood logs, 5 stacks of bone chips
the bad: only 4 elm logs all day and i blew up one of them when breaking bast parchment synth
the ugly: aside from the one session in the jungle, digging results were pathetic. I gave up after 70+ stacks of greens. being AFK for over 6 hours during the evening to clean house did not help matters.

03 June 2006

nasty run

I did about 100 stacks today, but results weren't that good. I made about 200k in profit today if I was lucky to make profit at all. 2 stacks of mythril beastcoins, 1 darksteel ore, and 10 stacks of bast parchment (from elm logs) were the best digs. The chocobo was either stubborn, or the goods I put on the AH were moving much slower than they should have.

Bad news is that I won't be doing much digging over the weekend. I got real life stuff both days and I'll be AFK a lot.

02 June 2006

short night

because I wasn't home most of the day and we had storms during the evening, I did not get online until 9PM. I did about 50 stacks of greens but the results were so-so, thus I called it quits early tonight. I got long day tomorrow, so I need to sleep.

01 June 2006

pounded out the bast

today i noticed that bast parchment was sold out on sandy AH, so I focused most of my efforts on digging Konschtat digging elm logs (with some used in Pashhow and Valkrum). I used about 75 stacks of greens today (could use more but had other things to get done), came out with 20 Elm Logs, 1 Petrified Log, but just 5 mythril beastcoins and only 2 colored rocks. I did pull up 2 gold beastcoins in one of the first digging runs as I found neither dig botter paying attention to the windy-jeuno route. My digging drew one of them on that route, but not before the damage was done.

the dig accuracy was so-so, but I made the successful ones count when it mattered the most. Only lost 1 Elm Log when crafting the bast parchment, and all but 4 stacks I made today have already sold.

Must get up early in the morning and have to miss Early Waxing Crescent digging b/c of a doctors appointment which is a bummer.

30 May 2006

back to more digging

after couple phone calls I found out I won't have to babysit til Wednesday.

I resumed digging and got platnium ore, gold beastcoin, and coral fragment. not great dig success rate, but when I did get a success I made it count. last digging session yielded 5 mythril beastcoins and a puffball but just 1 elm log. today i either had some rather dry zones or dug up bunch of crap when i had fresh zones.

still got over 1000-1300 stacks to go before I hit craftsman rank. 3 AM right now so time to get some zzzzzz.

29 May 2006

good news and bad news

Last night I dug up my first orch. ore in Rolanberry. Did not dig during early waxing crescent because it was 4AM when it started. Resumed digging and got 4 Oak Logs and a Gold Ore. Nothing special except a lot of junk. Hardly anything I already had on AH has sold yet, however, so I have to slow down and let that sell.

The bad news is that I probably won't get to dig again until Wednesday night at the earliest. My brother called and I may have to go up to their house and babysit his daughter. My brother is down in Key West on Naval Reserves business until October, which means I have to help his wife and daughter out more. I found it out right after I got home from the funeral home (someone that went to my church died last week).

28 May 2006

allergies ><

yesterday i felt so horrible I only did 30 stacks of greens and laid in bed most of the day. i ended up going to sleep shortly after midnight and didn't wake up til 2:30 PM. Highlights were 2 king truffles and 6 petrified logs.

I feel a bit better today but I'm still sore from helping parents outside on Friday night getting those trees trimmed. I did another 50 stacks of greens so far. 4 Elm and 7 Petrified Logs. One of the black rocks yielded an Painite (the other two were NQ).

One of the neighbors graduated from high school today but I'm not attending his party. Just being outside really triggers the allergies so I need to stay inside as much as possible.

27 May 2006

Journeyman Rank: Found It!

I just dinged Journeyman Rank in digging (A35) few minutes ago. Took me 1007.67 stacks of ghysal greens to do it.

26 May 2006

fierce competition

lately I seen some high competiton. The competition in the jungles really turned up in the past 3 or 4 days. I was in there trying to dig up more dryad roots for my alchemy mule only to find 2 or 3 other high level diggers in the area. I tried Konschtat Highlands but the prices of both Elm Logs and Bast Parchment have dropped. So I moved right outside Windy going for Saruta Cotton, Green Rocks, Ebony Logs, and Tree Cuttings. Not my preferred spot, but I'm on the verge of going up a digging rank and the last thing I want right now is hardcore competition.

phoenix

another early waxing crescent came and went, and another one that i did not dig up an elemental ore. perhaps my digging skill is a bit low, but seeing screenshots of someone pulling one up at A25 skill gives me hope. I'm convinced that they can be dug up as early as Craftsman rank digging. I'm about to hit Journeyman rank anytime, but it hasn't happened yet.

I did pull up a Phoenix Feather. I also crafted with some of the junk items and ended up making Bandit's Gun (NQ that is a 25k per synth profit right now), 3 Bone Earrings +1, Spike Necklace, and 3 Bone Picks +1. I'm making about 2.5M per week on average since I started digging again. Having 100+3 bonecraft and 60 in other crafts but goldsmithing (52) and fishing (24) really helps in turning the junk into money.

25 May 2006

stormy

today i was offline for 4 hours during my peak digging time b/c of severe weather. the computer had to be shut off per family rules, which I hate, but we can't afford to have our power supply get fried again. once it finally calmed down, i opted to get in a skillup party to level up my level 62 npc character. 25 mobs were killed before the time limit was up but I felt we could had easily killed the max of 30. It didn't happen b/c peeps kept making critical mistakes that lead to several deaths (the killer being a whm mistargeting a darter at west waterfall camp in the tree that wound up with 6 dead party members by the time the darters finally died).

After the npc left, I left that party and resumed digging. I pulled up 5 petrified logs, and quite a bit of assorted junk. I tried crafting with the junk, but either did NQ or critical break of all but 1 synth. I went to alchemy mule to use up those dryad roots but ran out of bat wings. My alchemy mule did get up to 67.4 in alchemy and used up all but 3 1/2 stacks out of 12-13 stacks of dryad roots in the process.

I resumed digging, pulled up 5 elm logs (turned them into bast parchment as its a 6k per synth profit right now), 2 mythril beastcoins, and more junk. HQ a Bone Harness, but NQ or crit break everything else. I'm on a 0/8 streak on HQ Bone Picks with 2 critical breaks right now.

Its 5AM right now. Supposed to be in bed right now, but I don't even feel sleepy. Stupid prescription the doctor gives me gives me insomina and nothing else he gives for my allergy problems seem to work at all. I made an appointment to see an allergy specialist in St. Louis next week but that is all I'm talking about this.

23 May 2006

tonight better, sorta

tonight I did more digging in the jungles. out of just 32 stacks of greens (i've been AFK for the most part, and there has been competition on top of that), I ended up with:

19 rosewood logs
3 ebony logs
1 coral fungus
4 petrified logs

I totally expect results to improve as the night to go on. They did to some lesser extent. 3 more petrified logs, 10 more ebony, 9 mahogany, 12 rosewood, and 2 more coral fungus. i went into the highlands and promptly dug up 3 elm logs and 2 mythril beastcoins. i turned some of the other materials I dug from konschtat and valkrum into bone harness+1 and bone pick +1 attempts, but only went 1/4 on harness+1 (with 1 crit break) and 0/3 on bone pick +1 (with 1 crit break) on full moon lightsday.

so-so results

last night digging was cruddy. the best digs were a gold beastcoin, 7 mythril beastcoins, 2 darksteel ores, and 8 elm logs. I ended up with too much junk digs. I turned the elm logs into bast parchment, and crafted the giant femurs into the level 16 bone leggings and harness (2 HQ in the leggings, 1 HQ in harness, not bad). I have feeling that rosewood lumber is dropping in price and I needed to use up dryad roots, so I did not dig in the jungles today. I'll be back there sometime Tuesday. I only need 200+ stacks of greens before I go up a digging rank. On a positive note today, I did get my Walahra Turban as I just had enough gil to buy the 19 imperial gold coins I needed. Those 19 gold coins cost me 3.1M, but it was much cheaper than buying the stacks of bronze on the AH.

22 May 2006

Monday sucks

Early waxing crescent, and I keep having d/c problems like crazy. Did get some decent diggings with better results than the last early waxing crescent, but no elemental ores to show for it. On the other hand did get 9 Elm Logs, 3 Black Rocks, and 2 Darksteel Ores during that time frame. I end up breaking even, maybe a small profit. However, when it was time to craft the rocks into jewels, I wound up with 3 NQ results in a row on a Tier 2 HQ synth. I'll just end up turning the Elm Logs into Bast Parchment but I have no moko grass to make that synth right now, and my AH slots are all tied up.

Right now I'm trying to carefully disrupt the digbots, as I did find a pattern of their digging runs and I think I found how to disrupt some of their profitable areas if not all. The recent dip in prices of Elm Logs really gave hope, as now I can get 2 to 1 money odds by converting Elm Logs into Bast Parchment.

I started crafting on my alchemy mule as well, trying to use up those Dryad Roots, but only gotten .3 skill gain on 24 synths of Hi-Ethers.

21 May 2006

finally sold

well all the logs in the bazaar and the bulk of the lumber I had on AH finally sold while I slept last night. I wasn't thrilled with the requests to lower the price of Petrified Logs to 14k a pop, where they were already 17k a pop in bazaar and going for 20k a pop on the Sandy AH. It would be nice if they would get to me before I went asleep but they don't always read search comments. I rarely log out from the game even when I'm asleep, and when it happens its due to thunderstorms or maintenance.

Sadly, due to some competition today, some of the early digging results were so-so. Well, that all changed during the latest session, where I pulled up 3 King Truffle and 2 Petrified Logs, and I still got 2 stacks of greens left. Sadly, the Truffles sell best as singles, but seeing 90k in just 3 digs pretty much made up from the lackluster digging sessions I had so far.

after that i ended up pulling up 2 more king truffle, but a bunch of junk after that. i changed to konschtat and pashhow (in attempt to tick off the digbots), wound up with 6 elm logs but a bunch of junk. early waxing crescent is in 7 hours, better get some zzz before then.

20 May 2006

not really happy

despite the fact one of woodworking gp items called for rosewood lumber in its synth today, the only lumber that sold last night in bazaar was 6 singles of rosewood lumber. the stuff on AH did not sell at all except for ebony lumber. usually i have no problems getting stuff sold on weeknights, but this surprised me as the petrified logs don't stack.

right now I got about 20+ petrified logs in inventory waiting to be sold, AH full of rosewood/mahogany lumber stacks, and a mule loaded of bone chips. (I'm probably going to just turn the chips into animal glue as the prices took a little nose-dive.)

Blowing up lumber synths did not help my cause either. I lost 6 ebony logs on breaks (1 coming on lightsday) and couple rosewood and mahogany logs as well. With this being a Saturday, I expected digging competition in the jungles to heat up somewhat and it did, but I'm still coming away with decent digs. I got another King Truffle, several more petrified logs, and quite a few ebony. I didn't start digging til 8pm, couple hours later than usual, but its only taking me 3-5 stacks of greens to dig up a zone.

19 May 2006

early waxing crescent i hate you

4 game days digging during this moon phase, a bunch of junk and a loss of 50k gil to show for it despite the fact i have la thiene to myself. chocobo won't dig things up, and when it does its pebbles and little worms. I gave up after Earthsday, as it was 4AM and folks wake up in less than a hour.

18 May 2006

falling through planks in kazham

yesterday, I made about 700k profit from digging. It wasn't as much profit from the day before, but almost everything I dug up has sold. The main exception was the 3 petrified logs, 2 stacks of ebony lumber, and the king truffle. So I know the turnover rate is there. Everything except the ebony sold out when I set up a bazaar consisting of bone chips, petrified logs, rosewood, ebony, and maghnogany lumber in Sandy by the carpenters guild last night when I went to bed.

I fell through the hole in a plank in kazham today on the way to nomad moogle. Either a glitch or lag. GM got me out of the hole, and i go right down the hole again. I sent a complaint to service and support and get a response that had nothing to do with the complaint.

It sucks when Early Waxing Crescent has to happen during JP Primetime. . . AGAIN ><

17 May 2006

man its profitable again

last night, no competition in jungles from 6pm to 3am, i made a whopping 800k profit from the digging of coral fungus, puffballs, bone chips, danceshrooms, and logs/lumber. tonight is shaping to be much like last night right now. I just started digging little less than 30 minutes ago. Almost everything I dug yesterday, aside from a couple petrified logs and some danceshrooms, sold.

tonight, i gotten 10 petrified logs, king truffle, 3 puffballs, several maghonany/ebony/rosewood, about 9 stacks of bone chips, and 3 stacks of danceshrooms. i'm 1 away from a stack of coral fungus but inventory is filling up and its not likely i'll get that stack filled tonight. I'm about to OP warp to sandy after this digging run and pack it in until tomorrow.

jungles deserted

i dug almost all night in the jungles and only found 1 other digger the entire night. I ended up with a Puffball, 3 Petrified Logs, stack of danceshrooms, several stacks of bone chips, 26 ebony, 27 maghnogany, 4 stacks of dryad roots, 18 rattan lumber, and rest were junk. very good digging run.

16 May 2006

took it up again

after a long break from digging, i took it up again b/c i needed dryad roots for alchemy mule. i dug up a stack in yhoator so far. I'm still digging, its just i start at a new game day, when i dig up the zone i return to town and wait til the next game day. It only takes 10-15 minutes to dig up the zone, which means 40-50 minutes of waiting.

I took the break for 1 major reason: the main money makers from digging took a nose dive in price around the first of March. Well, since then, Dryad Roots went up in price, Ebony/Maghonay Logs has returned to profitable levels, and Bone Chips are now selling at the price they were at prior to the crash. Only Petrified Logs have not returned to the price they were before, but they're on the way up again. The turnover rate has been high, as bone chips usually sell as soon as I put them on the AH, and the lumber within a day.

Rumor on the street also indicates that some of the major dig-botters on remora server were caught red-handed. I haven't seen 2 of the usual suspects in the jungles for a few days. The major botter from Rolanberry to Konschtat is still online but usually hides for few hours after a digging session (apparently that leg isn't as profitable when the only real money maker seems to be elm logs and mythril beastcoins). The Altepa botters are gone, but other diggers have taken their place.

one of my digging runs in yhoator yielded 6 Maghonany and 4 Ebony Logs, along with 2 stacks of bone chips. Best yield of the day from just 8 stacks of greens.

22 February 2006

dinged apprentice

just dinged apprentice. took 497.92 stacks of greens to level up.

19 February 2006

sick

well the stuff finally sold today. i haven't done more than 40 stacks of greens during the last 3 days combined b/c i have been battling a cold and the lack of sleep has gotten to me. i did pull up my first king truffle during the last digging session.

15 February 2006

what is with the digging blanks

today, i got jungles all to myself and the chocobo will dig 1 or 2 items up, then dig up tons of blanks. its been doing it for the past couple game days. i'm even waiting good 20-30 minutes before i dig again only for same problems.

I haven't done much digging at all today, I'm still battling a nasty cold right now.

14 February 2006

stubborn bird

there are days where chocobo is being very stubbon when it comes to digging. earlier today i got 3 gold beastcoins in 4 digs in mer. mountains. then the bird refuses to dig up stuff in zones that have not been dug up at all. now i want lightning crystals to get digged up so i can turn maple logs into sugar for nice profit (as Sandy is 3rd in conquest and nobody has control of that region where you can buy maple logs from that regional vendor). instead, chocobo is digging up maple logs and acorns. I can't dig up jungles again until the stuff on my sandy mule hurrys up and sell.

became novice

hit novice today. it took me 446 stacks of greens to go from initiate to novice

i cleared out the parser for the next level. i'm getting out of the damn jungles b/c another JP digger been there all day long and none of the logs I got from the jungle couple nights ago have sold on a mule yet.

almost to novice rank

i'm already 450 stacks into initiate rank. i expect to go up to novice at anytime. it hasn't happened yet despite frequent zoning and my digging out of the jungles.
